My friend admitted that she wanted me to be her girlfriend and i declined and now she wont speak to me and its?

been 8 months and i REALLY miss her, why would someone ruin a friendship because they dont want to date that person. all i wanted was to be her friend and when i told her that she just put her head down in embarrsement, i said that we can still be friends she just stared at me and started smirkin. but she wont call/txt like she used too, heck we dont speak at all etc... we dont even hang out anymore, its not fair... and it hurts to much and i dont know what too do. i want her back in my life but i dont think shes up for that cuz she cant HAVE me in the manner she'd like to have me. its like she cant accept a friendship. why would someone do that?
