Do women ejaculate like men do, if yes, what is the reason behind it?

I mean...during or in the climax of sexual intercourse between a couple the male ejaculates in the female's vagina in order to make reproduction possible. I have heard women can ejaculate too, like men. is that true, and if it is true, then what is the reason behind it?
