For those of you who believe in not using birth control/condoms: Does abstinence count as birth control?

I mean, whether or not you're choosing abstinence because you don't want to have sex, or whether your choosing it to prevent having children, abstinence is abstinence. And since you're preventing reproduction, does that make it a form of birth control in your eyes? This is a serious question, so please, serious answers only. Any answers that are not serious will be given a thumbs down. This is not a question that is intended to make fun of other people's religion.
